Did you see this spread in the Kansas City Star's house and home section last week 'Breaking the Pattern'? It's a lovely piece on modern quilting and the women behind the sewing machine, fabric and this art medium.Kansas City Etsy Street Team Member Lauren Hunt, affectionately known around here and Etsy as auntjune, is one of the featured modern quilters.
We love her bright and whimsical fabrics - she designs them herself ya know - and her chic and functional totes are fun and fabulous! And well, there is also her modern approach to quilting. The quilts are stunning. Just take a look.

After Christmas Giveaway Week 3
This week’s giveaway is a doll quilt with a matching pillow! This will make any little girl happy! This doll quilt is the perfect size for her American Girl or Waldorf doll! The quilt is over 70 pieces, pieced together and quilted in 1 1/2in squares. Cotton batting in quilt and pillow. Garden theme fabric.

Her story on how she started the doll quilt is so sweet!
“My granddaughter had taken a square of toilet paper and used it for her doll as a pillow. Then used a paper towel as a blanket. I felt so sorry for her dolly using paper products when I have a room full of fabric. So I grabbed out a circle of fabric for a pillow and an extra block of fabric I had. (a block is many pieces of fabric sewn together, many blocks make a quilt...ok just for those that don't know what I mean by block) Anyhow she was so happy. The following day, she returned with dolly and pieces of fabric. What was I suppose to do?
Yes I did, had to turn that into a real quilt for her and her doll.
Her mom told me that doll is not without that blanket still.”
