Local Craft Shows Featuring KCEtsy Members

Saturday October 22nd at Pachamama’s
Small art fair in Lawrence from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Booth space will be approximately 6'x6'. The fee is $30 ($25 for Pachamama's, $5 for advertising). We'll have drawings for prizes every hour on the hour. That day will be a KU home game day, so the downtown should be busy. Pachamama's is right by the farmers' market, which will be going on as we set up and open our doors.
For more details and an application, contact Eden at WoolflowerBoutique[at]gmail(dot)com.

Saturday & Sunday, October 29-30th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Overland Park, KS.
Dozens of local artists, crafters and vintage collectors from across the metro are coming together for this charity and craft show. A winter coat drive will be held during the event to benefit local charities in need of warm winter coats. Space is still available in a variety of sizes and styles for both KCEtsy team and non-team members ranging from $40-90 depending on space size. Handmade and vintage sellers only. Contact Ringocrafts - avansickle77[at]hotmail(dot)com for details and an application.
Holiday Hunt in Maryville, MO
Sunday, November 20th (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) at the Hanger in Maryville:
In it’s third year, the Holiday Hunt is an attractive venue for any KC area seller. Maryville is 2 hours North of KC, roughly an hours drive from any shopping and there is no other even to compete with so traffic in the past has been amazing. The town of about 7,000 plus 7,000 college students loves to support handmade. Booth fees are reasonable for the one day show, $50 per booth. They vary a bit in size, but generally speaking are 8 x 7 ft. The venue is The Hanger, the dinner theatre portion of our theatre-bar-restaurant complex. It is very unique with tiered levels - 4 booths on each level and 6 more on the floor.
For more details and an application, contact Kristi Wolbert at wolberts[at]hotmail(dot)com.

Artist Spotlight:: aLittleHomie

Still, she had an unexplainable urge to create.
Nearly eleven years ago, on their first anniversary, she and her husband were downtown shopping plaza. He offered to buy her any ONE thing. Intimidated by the vastness of choice, she asked him, instead, to take her to Wal-Mart. She wanted a new hobby, and came home with a pair of knitting needles.
"...Hey, I'm a simple girl. It was probably his greatest gift to me. I haven't put the needles down since. Through knitting, I have learned both patience and a love of the art. I love the colors of the yarn. I love the texture as it slips over my fingers. I love the rhythm in the clicking motions. "
"I have learned to love the process. Knitting gives me the chance to sit, ponder, reflect and refresh. It relaxes me. It fulfills me, and I am now happy to create ... and create and create and create."

Kristen's shop, aLittleHomie, specializes in ready-made hand knit creations and knitting kits. She is currently running a special on her washcloth knitting kits, free shipping to the US and Canada, plus 10% off the kit price! See her shop listings for details on how to get the discount. If you're not a knitter, you can purchase Kristen's ready-made sets of 6 hand knit washcloths. They come in a beautiful array of colors and make an excellent Mother's day or baby shower gift.
You can learn more about Kristen and her creative process on her blog.
